2 weeks!!!

Can you believe I only have TWO WEEKS before Jason is here!?!?  O.M.G.  I feel like it was just yesterday that I was in Alabama, telling him I didn't think I could make it through yet another long-distance relationship due to deployment.  Ha, well, I've come a long way since then and I'm very happy I did wait.  I'm super duper excited to see J in the next couple weeks.  We have SO much to do while he's here.  I'm really looking forward to our few days in Florida, especially after the winter from HELL we've had so far here in Chicago.  I know J's not really looking forward to the subzero temps, but he doesn't have much of a choice.  LOL  I know he'll just be grateful to be outta the sandbox for a short while.  I can't wait!!!

Merry Christmas

Hope everyone had a good Christmas.  I had a really nice one, although I was sad that Jason could not be here.  My sister Laura and her family drove into town from New Hampshire, and we were together as a family once again.  We all went to my parents, played games, watched movies, etc - just like old times.  I also got the BEST Christmas present from my honey.  He bought me this gorgeous black zebra-print diamond Michael Kors watch that I simply mentioned in passing to him.  I get emails from this new site Ideeli that offer designer items at reduced prices for a certain period of time.  I was browsing the Michael Kors sale one day, and came across the watch.  The watch was already sold out, and I mentioned to him that it was so cool and too bad I missed out.   Jason went on a hunt to find the watch, knowing only that I said it was zebra print.  He found the right one, and sent it to me!  Thanks J, for the very nice surprise and the best Xmas present this year.  :-)

Red eye

Last week I went to lunch with my 2 bosses, Senior Chief and Lieutenant (otherwise known as "LT").  They took me to this greasy diner called Full Moon, located near the Naval base.  As we were getting into Senior's car, I was hit square in the eye with a blast of windshield wiper fluid.  Senior did not realize that I was directly in the line of fire, and apologized profusely.  My eye burned like hell for about a minute, but then I completely forgot about the injury.  Yesterday, while shopping with my BF Mere and her sister Sara, they noticed my eye was all red.  I looked in the mirror, and sure enough it looked like blood had pooled in the whites of my eyes.  I figured it was from a broken blood vessel due to the windshield wiper fluid.  I woke up this morning and gasped as I realized my entire eye was red.  I look like some ghoulish freak from a horror movie.  Ugh.  I didn't want to go shopping, but my mom said to just wear sunglasses.  I feel silly wearing them indoors, so I just tried my best to not look at anyone.  I was getting so many strange looks.  My eye looks really bad, but it doesn't hurt at all.  I'm going to TRY to get an appt with an eye doc this week, but don't expect much luck.  I've read that the redness should subside within 2 weeks but geez I look a mess!  I'd post a picture but don't need yet another person gasping and telling me I need to see a doc.

On top of my eye issue, today is one of the coldest days of the winter so far.  The high is only 5 degrees, with -25 windchills.  I absolutely hate winter, and if I never experienced another winter again I would not mind.  There are no words to describe the Artic cold blast you feel as you walk outside, and try to go about your daily routine.  I feel for poor Jason, who comes home soon and will be trying to relax while freezing his arse off here in Chicago.

A little background for you

I started thinking that I should probably give a little background info on myself and Jason, since there are some who are reading and don't know a lot about him.  Jason and I met through a friend of mine Christine, who was dating JB, a good friend of Jason's and fellow soldier.  Jason is stationed at Ft. Rucker, Alabama, but is currently deployed to Iraq.  He is an air traffic controller, and LOVES his job.  He has an adorable 6-year old son Avery, who lives with his mom in NJ.  Jason is due home for R&R in about 3 weeks, and he will be flying here to Chicago.  I'm super excited to see him again, and we have a lot to accomplish in that 2-week timeframe.

We plan on going to Florida (Tampa area) for 3 days while he's here, and we'll be staying at a very nice hotel, Treasure Bay Hotel & Marina.   I was excited to find out that we can go to Busch Gardens for FREE.  We also want to visit a couple museums and go shopping, of course.  I think I'm most stoked about going to the beach, if only because winter has started with a bang here in Chicago.  We're on track to have the snowiest December on record (I think).  SO needless to say, we both cannot wait to escape to sunny Florida and just LAY on the beach.  That is what we did when we first met, and went to Destin, Florida.  What an incredibly relaxing and romantic time that was for us, and we can't wait to do again.  :-)

Welcome to OUR blog

Greetings, my fellow bloggers and curious readers!

I'm starting this blog a bit early.  I'm not yet OFFICIALLY a Clark, but that's going to change very soon.  :-)  I've been meaning to start a new blog for some time now, but just never had the extra time to sit down and brainstorm.  One of the major reasons for my creating this blog is mainly for me to remember all the events in my life.  For some strange reason, I have the WORST long-term memory, and cannot remember past events for the life of me!  I usually can for the first couple years, then the details become sketchy.  So I'm hoping this blog will help me to remember the good times, and the bad.

I'm also wanting to start this blog to coincide with the start of my "new" life with my awesome boyfriend and soon-to-be husband, Jason.  He truly is one of the best things to happen to me, and I want to remember every step of our journey through life together.  I know that must sound terribly corny, but it's the truth.  :-)
